Superhero Photo Challenge: Twilight

I saw the movie Twilight a few weeks ago, the weekend it premiered, with a sold out crowd of teens and tweens. My husband and I giggled (and felt wonderfully old) as throngs of girls screamed each time the hunky vampire Edward showed up on the screen. It was so much fun.

Ever since, I have been thinking about twilight in general and what a magical time of day it is. The colors in the sky are often so brilliant in contrast to the grey sheen over the rest of the world. This week's challenge is to capture life at twilight. What does your world look like during this little sliver of time?

For the giveaway today, I'd like to offer up something from my company Superhero Designs. The newest item at Superhero is a starburst pendant. It's not your typical star, but a bit more organic and sea creature like; something that evokes a burst of energy or joy. It also has the word "joy" engraved on the back. I am excited for one of you shutter sisters to have it. Just comment on this post and you'll be entered in the drawing!

Congratualtions to Mod Mom of Modobjectathome for winning your very own Joy Jersey!

Funny coincidence. Last night, as I was driving to a tree-lighting ceremony, I had to pull over just because I was compelled to take pictures of the view. Those ones didn't turn out so great, but this one at the tree-lighting ceremony sorta did.

Not so great composition, but I'm always dumbstruck by the beautiful sky. Anybody have tips for twilight shooting?

What a great photo! I, too, saw the movie, but the theatre was packed with married women. We had a great time screaming every time we saw each character debut. It was so poorly done, but a cult classic. I'll definitely see it again. and again.

I don't know if I could ever will myself to get up and see the twilight here in Illinois. The weather is nothing like that in California...but I may try and do so sometime. It's a gorgeous time of day

Twilight is my favorite time of day... It's perfect for arm out the window drives and rain splatters on shoulders. Love the necklace, thanks for the shot at it!

You don't know how much I'd love to give that starburst pendant to a certain family member who could use a hefty splash of joy in her life. It's beautiful!

Wow, what a coincidence! I took shots of twilight tonight when the sky was a beautiful purple, and orange like in your shot. I can't wait to upload them and see how they came out!

I really wanted to capture the moon when it was between venus and jupiter the other night,( see here: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap081205.html ) but alas, it's Seattle, so what could I expect.

What a beautiful necklace. I like the challenge too. I will try and get some good pictures of Twilight around here.

I have to agree with you on twilight.. the time not the movie hehe. It's almost magical with the colors that paint the canvas of sky. We've had overcast weather and so the river sky hasn't been giving stellar performances but I keep showing up with my camera in hopes that it will change.

Love your photo with the glimpse of twilight between the buildings. It's wonderful.

With my kids being 14 and 12 now and no more on the horizon, I feel a little like I'm in the twilight of my parenthood years. It's a little sad in a way...

My goal between now and Jan is to upload pictures to Flickr so that I can participate more fully in this great site.
The necklace is lovely, I have been coveting it and the superhero bullseye for a little while....

The very first thing that popped into my mind when I read the challenge was the Moody Blues song Twilight Time.
Yes, i know I am aging myself since many of you probally have never heard to the Moody Blues. Anyway I posted my pictures of twilight along with the lyrics of the song, they , not my pics, the words, are an incredible description of twilight time!

"She knew how to hit to a hair's-breadth that moment of evening when the light and the darkness are so evenly balanced that the constraint of day and the suspense of night neutralize each other, leaving absolute mental liberty." - from Tess of the d'Ubervilles

No matter the setting, twilight holds magic & mystery...
