Wish Lists (let's talk photo equipment)
-me with my Rebel XT before I got my wish and upgraded to a divine Canon 5D (pre Mark II).
We so rarely talk photo equipment here—there are so many other more delightful things to talk about—but let’s face it; we ALL use this stuff every single day. We thought it might be fun to dream a little and share some of the goods we’d eventually like to add to our photo arsenals.
Andrea, Maile and I all have our sights set on the Canon 5D Mark II. Purrr.
If you’re looking to purchase your first digital SLR we think the new Canon Rebel T1i kit is a great way to go (comes with the body and a lens).
On the other hand, Sarah and Karen think the Nikon D700 would be the bee’s knees. And Nikon has the entry level SLR kits too which are a great way to start.
Sarah’s also coveting a few new lenses; the Nikkor 135mm 2.5 and the
Kate longs for a wide angle like this one and at the same time would adore getting up close and personal with a macro like the 50mm 2.5 Compact Macro. Let me recommend this sweet sweet little baby from personal experience. It’s the lens that rarely leaves my camera. I would never forsake it...except maybe for this Canon 100mm Macro. I borrowed one the other day and was in heaven. And yes, it’s on my wish list.
Paige is looking to get flashy with this Canon Speedlite Flash (great flash, I use one and highly recommend it for Canon users).
Karen would like to try her hand at Aperture.
Stephanie’s getting ready for the Picture Hope trip with Jen and they are interested in this Lowepro Dryzone Waterproof Camera Backpack for the road!
Did I mention that Kate was looking to spruce things up with a new funky camera strap? Remember we mused on straps in a recent post? Well, Jessie of Designs my Jessie has offered up two of her awesome camera straps for a couple of lucky readers today! Check out her smart and sassy designs at her Etsy shop. The built in lens pocket is so clever!
So, let’s have it...what do you have your photo sights set on. Maybe if we put our collective wishes together we can make things happen. Afterall, it is our passion. Why not wish big?
For a look into our camera bags to see what we are using right now to capture the images featured at Shutter Sisters, check out the Equipment List page.
And if you want to win the camera strap, you must comment here before Sat at midnight. Good luck!

oh and a Lensbaby!
I just upgraded to the 40D from a rebel XT which I could give to my 17 yr old daughter :) and would love to eventually get a Canon 85mm 1.8 lens also. Cameras are a bit like buying a boat - the money you can put into it never ends !
And a gorgeous, distinctive camera strap might also be a welcome addition. :)
i'd love to get my lil' hands on a lensbaby...i also dream of the canon 5d markII but can be patient on that one. building up a collection of lenses sure takes moula and i'm glad i'm taking it slow and not just going into debt buying fancy lenses...it has me really bonding and understanding the potential of each lens before i get another one! i also really really like renting lenses to test out which ones i'd like to have!
Still...would love a cute camera strap..

Oh, and if I happen to win a camera strap, please give it to someone else. I have a ton of fabric in my basement and have that on my to do list. I'd rather it go to someone else that doesn't sew.
Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 (because lets be honest this lens is above and beyond AWESOME)
Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G micro (because my 60mm micro is fine for taking pictures of flowers but that's about it)
Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G wide angle (because everyone should have a wide angle lens and I don't so I need to fix that)
the white balance lens caps from Photojojo (I would like one for every lens please)
Now if I could just win the lottery or have a wonderful donation made to The Libbie's Photography Equipment fund this list could happen.
I'm pretty happy with most of my gear at this point, but those straps are awesome...
I definitely have a wish list for a lens. I'm still torn about which one but hope to get to the city (I live 6 hours from civilization) so I can try out each lens (rent them I suspect) first. These are the two lenses that are in contention:
Nikor 50mm f/1.8 or Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens
I adore those great camera straps. Thanks for linking to her Etsy shop -- I'll go check her out.
Thank you,
DIane
And yes, I too am coveting the 5D Mark II.
And Photoshop. I've been an Aperture girl so far, but I'd like to get into being able to do layers.
Oh, my wishlist:
D700, although I know I would be happy with a D300.
I would like to have a wide angle lens, a macro lens and a fisheye!
My current set up can be found here: http://shirleybehindthelens.blogspot.com/
Hopefully by the end of summer I'll have my 50mm! Positive thinking!!
Pocket Wizardx2
A second 580EXII
Canon 85mm F1.8
Need a new gear bag.. .or rather a shooting bag. My Tamrac holds everything but I hate lugging everything.
My husband also got me a Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC Macro lens when he purchased the 50D body. Love the little lens but truly wish it had a constant aperture of 2.8... but hey, I'm not complaining.
But the things I need most or Want is the speedlight to use for bounced light; and a wide angle lens for wedding and portrait photography which I am Very interested in learning about.l
For my flower work I'm dying for the Canon Macro 100mm too =)
(I do have an awesome camera for which I could use the strap covers, tho!)
i`m happy with my canon xsi at the moment (i will say the camera doesn`t make the photographer - until i need to upgrade ; )
i love my 50 F1.8 (i use it everyday even though i still hate how far away from my baby i have to be...) & i think the 1.4 would be even better...
dreaming about:
a macro lens
& nice wide angle
& wouldn`t a lensbaby be FUN
& now that i`ve seen the riley g straps - GOTTA have one...
One and a half years later, I'm still pretty happy with my Canon 30D body... though live view and HD video would be mighty nice. =P
I'm a Minolta girl (hard to find these day's) I have a Sony A200 now but would like a beefyier one.... more power :) so A700 or A900
a new telephoto lense currently using my 10 yr old minolta 70-210 for my maxxum.
a 50-300 with a F2.8 for shooting concerts and night time woudl be great
the ability to take time off my job that pay's the mortgage to go on photo outings
Wishing you a scent-sational day!
Patty Reiser
I would also looove a fabulous camera strap to go with the new camera!
