windows

"All the windows of my heart I open to the day" - John Greenleaf Whittler

There is something enchanting about a photo of a window or the view through it.

A story begins to unfold…. it’s a slice of life.

We'd love to see your view today....

Yesterday I caught my reflection in a mirror in my dark mudroom that I thought would make a dramatic capture with my iPad and the Instagram app. I call it "Slice of Light".

This was taken a few months ago from a hotel room in Nashville. It was my first black and white that I actually liked.

I love window pictures - though I find them challenging. Here is my son, wishing for the sun on a rainy day...

Windows are like an artificial barrier, sometimes you think you can see but not be seen and then you get caught. Here I was spying on someone gardening in the grounds of Cork University, Ireland.

i'm always fascinated by photos where light filters through a window and its dressings so perfectly. or should i say, i am fascinated by the real thing and photographing it or when others photograph it.

here is one i took of the beautiful vintage windows in my sister's flat in chicago.

I will admit I love my kitchen window in the summer when there is green, or winter, when the bare black limbs look like lead in a stainded glass window. The other photo shows that even my grown up child grows child-like when there is snow on the ground.
