When we boarded The Inspiration (kinda ironic huh?) on Thursday afternoon, I had no idea what was in store for me. I expected to see good friends, hear amazing music and eat until I couldn’t breathe. I did all of those things and then some. What I didn’t expect was the ...

My favorite vacation has happened every year since I was a baby. We head to our cottage at Lake Okoboji in Iowa. Its not fancy, its not big--its tiny, 65 years old and absolutely perfect. I love showing my kids things that I did when I was little. We now have pictures of our boys doing the same thing I was doing 30 years ago. Too fun!

I've always loved to travel so this is a very hard question! Perhaps I'll go with the longest trip -- my semester in Rome in college! I took one day to myself to sit back in the Sistine Chapel and just look up as long as I possibly wanted too. And I traveled by train all over the country with a couple cameras on weekends, pre-digital age and EXIF data, numbering rolls and rolls of film and jotting down dates. Thank you!

I have been fortunate to see so much of the world and have been blessed to travel quite a bit especially before we had children. But with that said, it's so cliche, but when we took our 3-year-old to Disneyland last year--and seeing the whole world and possibilities just open before her--she just exuded pure happiness. It was one of those really perfect vacations where we just had so much fun & joy being together as a family and enjoyed such a magical place.

My favorite vacation would be last year when just me and my husband went to Edinburgh. It is such a beautiful place, plus we were able to see The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. It was so amazing. This was something that I added to and checked off my bucket list.

I have two toddlers under the age of 4. My personal favorite vacation would be a week of sleep! Since it would be nice to have a vacation with the whole family though, my other choice would be the beach. We have yet to explore the shoreline of North Carolina, so checking out the outer banks would be fun. What kid doesn't love the sand?!

Hawaii for my cousin's wedding. We spent time with family on little excursions like snorkeling and luau. So much fun. Oh yeah my mom had her gallbladder removed on the second day so she missed everything. But since she did have surgery we had to stay another week. But we loved it. That was 12 years ago. I'm taking my husband and kids next year for his 40th. I cannot wait he doesn't know.

My most favorite vacation that never gets old is Yosemite in the winter. Ice skating with my husband below the huge granite cliffs, hiking in the snow, and waking up knowing that you are in one of the greatest most treasured places on Earth. :)

My favorite trip was a a four day trip with my mother to Bali. I went scuba diving for the first time and fell in love with the colors of coral and the ocean. The rest of the time, my camera was glued to my face as I tried to capture as much of the beautiful sunsets, temples, and landscapes as possible. Thank you for hosting the give-away!

My favorite vacation, which would shock my boyfriend, was when we took time off to move into our dream house. My boyfriend and I had been house hunting for 3 years. I was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen, because we were so far apart on what we wanted/needed, but as time marched on, we found ourselves meeting in the middle and had a dream home in mind that would make both of us happy.

We heard about the house a week before it went on the market, we viewed it 15 minutes after it was listed, and had our offer on the table an hour later.

Around this time, we also adopted two cattle dog mix puppies (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimberlygauthier/4658258747/) and were trying to potty train, pack, and move in a shorter time frame then planned. And we lost our movers.

Oh, and did I mention that we came down with the worst summer cold too. It was a comedy of errors. But our neighbors showed up on our door on moving day, my boyfriend's 70 year old dad helped me load up a truck with boxes, a friend puppy and kitty (we have two cats) sat for us while we moved.

We were sick, exhausted, in loads of pain, but we were so happy and now, a year later, we still talk about moving week with huge smiles on our face. I'm grinning from ear to ear now.
My favorite vacation is the annual vacation we take with my whole family to Orlando, FL. We meet there every year, no matter where we are living, and we spend the week together! We always have lots of fun swimming, shopping, site seeing, cooking and just hanging out! New memories are created every time we go!

Favorite vacation was a quick escape to Marthas Vineyard. No car, or schedule. Just rented bikes and our daypacks. Even though we have done some great overseas travel I always look back to this our 2 days of carefree time on Marthas Vineyard.

My family took a trip over the long weekend last weekend and headed to our cabin in norther Idaho. Generally, the weather over Memorial day is not so good but we were very lucky and god a couple days of SUNSHINE which we have been lacking in the Pacific Northwest. My daughter go to throw rocks into the lake, we took some long walks, enjoyed the company of friends and family which all equated to lots of relaxation! Now I am back in Seattle and, though there is no place like home, I miss the slower pace in north Idaho!

My favorite vacation was last summer. My family (my mom, dad, sister, and I) plus my boyfriend and his brother took a road trip from Houston to New York. My parents are both from upstate NY and for my 21st birthday I wanted to go to NYC because we have never been. We hopped in a mini-van and left for our three week adventure. The first stop we made was New Orleans. We decided to stay there for the night and go sight seeing. We went to Bourbon St. ate at Bubba Gumps etc. The next day we went to the D-Day museum because my dad is a HUGE history buff! It was a very interesting place I highly recommend it! The next stop was Atlanta, GA. We stopped and had dinner with one of my boyfriend's friends and with my mom's cousins who we haven't seen in years. We stayed the night in ATL and the next day we were off to Roanoke, Virginia to stay the night with one of my Aunts. We left the next morning for the Big Apple. We stayed with my dad's best friend in New Jersey and commuted every morning to NYC. The city was amazing!!!!! I fell in love with everything about it! We were only there for two days so we barely had time to do anything, but we went to see the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Central Park, The MET, Times Square, all of the touristy stuff. We also stopped in Hoboken to see Carlo's Cake Shop from the show the Cake Boss! The next place we went to was Ithaca NY, my dad's hometown. We spent a week there visiting family and friends, then we were off to Syracuse NY, my mom's hometown. We spent another week there visiting family. We also made a trip to Niagra Falls. On the way back, we stayed a few more days with my aunt in Virginia and then we all (Including my aunt and her family) went to North Carolina to see my cousin get married! After spending 2 days in NC, we headed back to ATL, stayed one night there, and then went to Arkansas. My boyfriend was a foreign exchange student from Mexico and he went to Mount Ida, Arkansas (about an hour away form Hot Springs). We went to visit his host family who he had not seen in about seven years. Then it was back to Houston! It was a crazy trip but we saw so much. We hadn't been on vacation to see family in years so it was nice to see them all for a fun occasion, not just a funeral or something bad. We all needed a vacation from the vacation but we want to do it again but this time on the west coast! Maybe in the next couple of years we will! :)

My FAVORITE vacations were when I was a kid in Northern California ..... as use to camp or get a house boat up at Shasta Lake. We would water ski, swim and eat watermelon. Those were the best family times and the best memories of my dad and mom.

My favorite vacation is a staycation. Completely off-the-grid, but still at home. Re-energizing ourselves and filling our home with new life. It's the best ever! Allowing our home to be a haven and being refreshed.

I love Italy and our trip driving along the Amalfi coast was spectacular but believe it or not one of my favorite holidays has to be Newfoundland. The people, the beauty, the rugged coast line and of course the whales are what makes Newfoundland such a wonderful place to visit. Would go back in a heartbeat.
